Acupressure Acupressure, or Non-Invasive Acupuncture, is an ancient Chinese healing method based on the same principles as Acupuncture. Gentle pressure is applied to points on the body to aid in the alleviation of pain. In Chinese Medical Theory, there is energy moving through the body vitalizing the organs, bones, muscles, and blood. This vital energy, or 'qi' (pronounced 'chee'), is transported through the body in fourteen channels called 'meridians'. The meridians begin at the fingertips, connect through the brain, and go on to the organs associated with that specific meridian. Accupressure points are located along these fourteen meridian channels and correspond to spefic areas of the body. Points where the energy is stagant, deficient, or excessive can be treated and alleviated using acupressure. For treatment, the client lies on a soft table while the practitioner applies gentle pressure to specific points corresponding to the client's ailment. The session is non-invasive and gentle.
